bitching session~~

Few months back, we started to have makan-cum-drinking session on every closeout, to reward ourself for the hard work and effort put in for the month, to relax for 1 night before we start our battle again for the new month... initially the session started off with simple steamboat buffet with lots of crapping, jokes, nagging, laughters and fun...to ktv pub with some ppl singing their hearts away, some playing five-ten, playing bluff with dices..

Each time we had to makan at one place den move off to another place to chill and drink.. so today, we went to this place where u can makan and then chill at that very place, save time moving ard, especially when u are so settled at the first palce.. The place was called "Timbre: Music Bistro and Bar".

Timbre is situated at The Substation Garden, just behind The Substation main building near the Old National Library site. Tucked away from the maddening crowd - in a hidden, dew-kissed nook at Armenian Street, a fresh fusion of music and food has planted itself among the waving leafy fronds. It's rustic tranquility sweeps one back to more youthful days when things were less complicated and everything was forward. and its al fresco setting amidst the hustle and bustle of town allows one to gaze at the night sky in quiet contemplation - an isle of calm amidst a busy city. Very nice ambience with live band singing the patrons' song request... There's ample parking lots (free after 5pm). Ambience was great with live band singing away with the song request.

The first not so-good part is that they only serve one kind of food by the time we reach there (we reached there abt 11pm.. closeout mah, wat to do), Thin-crust pizzas with a wide selection of toppings... the pizza was abt 14-inch, so we ordered 2, the beef & pork sausage toppings, thinking that it should be big enough to feed 6 hungry monkeys, whose last meals was abt 2pm.. When the pizzas arrived, indeed it was abt 14-inch wide, but the crust was super thin lar.. they should call it the "SUPER-DUPER THINNEST CRUST U'LL EVER EAT PIZZA" the thiness of the crust was abt 2 A4 size paper put together lar.. but amazingly it could hold onto the toppings.. the beef was not alot.. the pork sausage pizza was much better....

The second not so-good part came when the waiter came to us with the bill & asked for our last round of drink at 12.30am!!! As its was the eve of Labour Day, we didnt expect them to close shop so early... but they did.. too bad...closing shop at 1am on a public holiday eve was earli. Considering that we only reach there at abt 11pm...

Everyone had a great time catching up with each other, sharing the latest gossips, bitching abt work life... laughing our hearts out with super corny jokes and over the stupidest stuff... best part is to bitch abt things we cant say when in uniform or club premises as there's always the danger of "walls have ears!!". But at each of these gathering, all bitching are left at the table, we know all the bitching & bitterness will be among ourselves..muahaha... so looking forward to the next closeout gather... hmmm..wondering where can we have filling food and gd ambience to chill... muahaha... oh yeah actually we intend to go Loof instead, but change plan so went to Timbre instead. Maybe we could go there the next closeout?? Wat say u STCians & PPWians, plus Maeve, Colin & Jolene?? muahahahahha

Aching Ahhhhhhhhhh~~~

Yesterday was my 2nd volleyball practise...i did not play the Libero though... went back to play my very first position, the 'long' position ... heheh its actually my most beloved and respected coach, Mr Lim Bah Seng's lingo.. it mean generally the area this position can spike... fr the spiking position, the the 'long' spiker have a wider area to attack. But i have a prob..my arms are not straight...this has been a prob ever since i started. I rem kena 'punished' by the seniors to hit each wall in the sch hall 20x so that i can learn to straighten my arm when i spike... there were at least 60 pillars in the sch hall! (i did more than once..trust me) I call my arm the chicken wing arm..muhahaha... well got to rem to straighten my arms le...hehehhe

One thing i appreciate is the patient teachings of my coach & seniors with the building of my vb foundations... they taught and i learnt well.. which is why after 3 yrs of MIA from vb, i can still play..although abit rusty, spiking not as good... recieving still okie... i can still dig & roll & save a shot den fall onto the ground gracefully without hurting myself!!! muahahhaa.... that is so important as age is catching up..hehehhe

After the many balls i spike, many saves from diving and rolling.. my whole body is aching!! But i sure like the feeling of persipration on my skin throughout the 3 hrs of training....What i didnt like was the strange feeling of playing with different groups of vb enthuists... especially so when ah bet and feli was not ard yest.... one's on flight, the other was sick....its okie.. they will be back next wk!! yeah!!

Oh yeah, guess who i saw last night at training?? It was EDWIN PANG!! muahaha... one of the St Hilda's player back then who was quite well known for his skills, looks and of cuz great bod...... he still look very delicious..oopps..muahah... anyway he was there to support his gf for the vb training...giving her tips every now and then.. (hmm which i find abit disrespectful, considering that our team coach was there.. he cld have done after the training or during the breakies??) the same gf who won the very first ROXY Ger held in 2002?? They have been together for very long liao wor.. its gd to always see couples have a common sport that they can engaged it..as they know how the sport is played mentally & physically they can cheer and support each other..thus growing closer together... dun u tink??

Thursday~~

Today is thursday again.. my fav day of the week, my off-rest--do my fav things day. As usual start of my day at KK.. today i had a great time playing Junior Scrable and Candy land with 'QF'. A super cheerful little ger tat cheered me up with her infectious high pitched laughters.. not forgetting her imitation of the broken trumpet...hehehe e 2hrs seemed to pass so fast... my migrain seem to go away during tat 2 hrs.... things on my mind tat need alot of my attention and enegry just went away for awhile.. no need to ans phone calls and reply smses...ehehhe

As for the rest of the day, suppose to settle my PDA phone, go for express meni, tidy up my resume, lookout for jobs, get some slp to chase the on-off migrain away... But cuz of a last min call, I need to head to Great World City to settle some paperwork... den still need head to Suntec City to pick up the corp applications for processing tml and i got to wait for a 7pm appt, which end up i only got to see her at 8.45pm... so all in all, i did none of the above i planned to do.. well u gain some but u lose some.. some times I wonder if all these are worth it anot...

How to determine if its worth it anot?? i guess if at the end u are happy, its consider le ba...??

btw went to the doc on sunday to get med for my headache, at the same time aso to treat my sinus... While waiting for my turn, saw one of so called resident doc was quite a young punk, he even had those hip-hop looking metal chain chained to his pants!!! is this the look of the younger generation docs?? I was praying deep down tat i will not kena him.. but so 'heng' kena him... bo bian, better go see him fast and head back to work..muahaha.. as usual, after i told him how i feel abt my headache, he diagnose it as migrain, den ask me to eat the painkillers, if still pain den need to go back to him.... but was the use of going back to him?? he will just increase the dosage wat.. no point...

As for my sinus, he said it could be due to allergy. I asked him wat and can i test wat is it? he said,"Can, can test, but wat happens if u are allergic to dust?? Are you going to wear a anit-dust box over your head like a helmet to stop your sinus?? No right?? Dun worry, alot of ppl have the same prob as you.. dun worry u can leave with it for the rest of your life one.."
I was like duh~ -_-"" If i know wat to do I'll not have asked right?? anyway, he gave me those nasal spray for me to spray every morning....

Docs really earn very easy money wor.. they just sit and wait for ppl to come visit them, lend a listening ear to wat the patient got to tell them, prescribe the with medicine can liao.. merely 5 mins of consultation they earn like $40 bucks from me liao..muahaha

Headache!!!!

My head almost exploded from this afternoon's splitting headache... not sure how the headache came abt... the pain was so bad that i cant move for half an hour... pain till i almost puke... end up have to take half day mc to go home and slp... After a few hrs of rest, i feel much more better.. but head still feels heavy... the pain is btw the eyebrows.. very concentrated spot of pain... my brains feels like its been squeeze together... like i drank something real cold that my brain froze together...

How nice if i can get a hug to stop the pain...soft stroking on my face to calm me down...sigh~~~

My First Vb Practise~~~

Oh yeah... after months of anticipation, today i attended my first VB training of 2 hrs without any injuries!! I managed to survive the training session...muahahaa... due to the fact that i have not been playing for 3 yrs...the recieving part of my both hands hurts alot... the skin there is thickened in the process of recieving the balls... and today i played a position i wanted so much to try out when i was back in TP, which Mr Wong didnt really agree.. The Libero..though abit rusty today, i believe with the trainings thats coming up, i shld make a pretty gd libero...muahahahah

In 1998 the libero player was introduced internationally, the term meaning free in Italian. The libero is a player specialized in defensive skills: the libero must wear a contrasting jersey colour from his or her teammates and cannot block or attack the ball when it is entirely above net height. When the ball is not in play, the libero can replace any back-row player, without prior notice to the officials. This replacement does not count against the substitution limit each team is allowed per set, although the libero may be replaced only by the player whom they replaced. The libero may function as a setter only under certain restrictions. If she/he makes an overhand set, she/he must be standing behind (and not stepping on) the 3-metre line; otherwise, the ball cannot be attacked above the net in front of the 3-metre line. An underhand pass is allowed from any part of the court.

The libero is normally the most skilled defensive player on the team. There is also a libero tracking sheet, where the referees or officiating team must keep track of who the libero subs in and out for. There may only be one libero per match, although there may be a different libero in the beginning of any new match.

Furthermore, a libero is not allowed to serve, according to international rules, with the exception of the NCAA women's volleyball games, where a 2004 rule change allows the libero to serve, but only in a specific rotation. That is, the libero can only serve for one person, not for all of the people for whom she goes in. (This rule is also often used in high school, junior college, and club play.)

Run Run Run....

Had a gd run with my colleague yesterday along East Coast.. we ran non-stop for 40mins.... tink we covered abt 6km?? Managed to keep to his pace for the first 30mins... last 10mins my stiches set in..muahaha... well the gd thing is my knees are okay after the run & that i managed to endure the run without having to stop even though i have stiches... the bad thing however was that i realise i'm not perspiring as much as i used to... maybe cuz i wasnt pushing myself hard enough?? heheh... well now i'm closer to the beach, it gives me more reason to run... target to run at least 3 times a wk?? slowly training up for the 21km run end of the yr... jiayou jiayou jiayou....

OFF day!!!

Today is thursday and its aso my OFF day. Did the usual routine of heading to KK in the morning.. today i met kid 'V', 'ZR' & 'XY'. 3 different personalities...

'V' is always so shy, always have the shy smile on her face, likes coloring especially coloring mermaid, but kinda frickled minded as keep jumping around doing diff things...

'ZR' is super duper quiet, has big & pretty round eyes, only toks to mummy, likes to eat hard-boiled eggs for breakfast.. but recently not much appetite due to the treatments, getting very thin..

'XY' is smart, cheeky and chatty.. suppose to take 'O' levels this yr, but due to treatments ahve to defer for yr... we enjoyed playing Mastermind together...

After which I went to Plaza Singapura to do some shopping @ Spotlight, Daiso & Carrefour.
Bought cross stitch cloth and needles. Was packing my cupboard the other day that i realise that i still have alot of threads left... can start to cross stitch precious moments pictures again.. hmmm come to think, maybe someone will want to buy it from me & i cd earn some extra bucks??? heheh just a tot...

My first time to Daiso @ PS. The place is much more smaller compared to the ones @ VivoCity & IMM. Alot of things i want to get either out of stock or not available. Nevertheless, i still walk out of the shop 10 bucks poorer.

Next was to Carrefour to do some grocery shopping. Realise that the pricing for the same item is much more expensive compared to Suntec. For example, frozen dory fillets are @ $4.50 per packet, while over @ Suntec its priced @ $$6.20 for 2 packets!! What a ripped off!! Wonder whats the rationale in the price diff...

Last stop was Long John Silvers to have my lunch & also to meet up with my insurance agent to get my portfolio. Had a long chat with her as there were some cock up from both our ends.. but can be solved once i find out the information.. partly aso i blur..mauahha.. oh yeah, she change her 2-door BMW to a Honda family car... i like it better cuz not too flashy and can fit her whole family, since her parents will be moving in with her soon... shes also looking for a bigger place... a very strong and modern woman. I salute her!!

FUN FUN FUN!!!!

Yesterday was our PPWians CUM STCians' bbq gathering @ East Coast, organized by Mr Lubster (ahlup), assisted by party fund treasurer- Karen Yong (KY???), Market ger-Serena Tan, super-take-his-time-&-dunno-e-world-waiting-for him--Mr William & of cuz the forever-so-chubby-cheeks Lindy..tats me!!!!!

We checked in earli hoping to get a little of the sun before the rain came down from the dark clouds, but due to some food preparations, we end up just staying indoors... picked up the bbq food orders...oh yeah Mr William help to set up the fire for the bbq..took him 1 full hour... end up too much charcoal..fire too big...muahahaha... but at least we got the fire going...

So at 7pm, we started eating and the bbq session... we had sambal stingray, sambal sotong, buffalo wings, otah, satay, bee hoon, chicken curry, sweet potato, corn, taiwan xiang chang, crabmeat and dessert was longan with sea coconut!!!
when everyone had filled their stomach with food... it was game time.. we played silly games and drank.. oh yeah beer was sponsored by top saleswoman of 2006- Serena Tan, Vodka Peach sponsored by high-class Fazlee & Vodka Peach sponsored by the kawaii Karen...

Of cuz there were some very funny moments like, ppl got high & started doing things in their own world..Everyone had fun.. its always gd to see colleagues from different clubs mingle around..let their hair down and realli have fun!! no work discussed!!! At least we acheive the goal of getting everyone mingle with each other and we realli had fun!!

Oh yeah, i went rollerblading for abt an hr and end up with two cuts, one on the knee, e other on my elbow.. got it when going down slope..muahah... did the superman fall..muahahah.. i called it the war badges.. when if u dun fall, u never learn??? muahahaha

Only managed to slp at 4am after all the fun.. woke up at 7.30am so i cld start work @ 9am... yawn~~ so tired liao...

4-eye froggie....

Still rem my first eye-sight test when i was 4 yr old. Doc diagnosed that I was short-sighted, but i need not wear specs till im in pri 1, till i get in contact with longer hrs of study & reading.. all tks to my grandma who put me right in front of the TV when i was still a baby to keep me entertained that lead to short-sightedness.. but cant entirely blame her. As i grew up, i had alot of bad reading habits & simply i watched too much tv.. u cld say my eyes are pratically glued to the tv.. muahaha... well along with short-sightedness came astigmatism.

Aastigmatism is when an optical system has different foci for rays that propagate in two perpendicular planes. If an optical system with astigmatism is used to form an image of a cross, the vertical and horizontal lines will be in sharp focus at two different distances. In simple words, i will get blur or double vision when objects are in front of strong lightings...

Since pri 1, i have both short-sightedness and astigmatism.. which makes me a 16 yr-old 4-eye froggie...and many more yrs to come...muahahhaa...

Today i made a trip to the optician. Time to get my eyes check & to get a new pair of specs.. my current pair of spes is a black plastic-framed, with thick frames that cost me only $38, very nerdy looking... Not much complaints as i only wear them at home when i'm not wearing my contacts... The new pair i made will allow me to even wear it to work.. look more decent when im in specs..muahahahaha...

The gd news is, during the eye-sight testing, i was surprised that the optician say that i do not have astigmatism!!! Can u believe it, after 16 yrs of astigmatism, the optician tells me that i do not have that... how weird is that, u mean it just went away????? So i asked him what could have caused the astigmatism to go away?? He said that there could be still very little astigmatism, but its so little that i do not need to correct it ... Apparently, as long as your eye ball is flat, u will have astigmatism. He explained that i cld have flat eye-ball when i was younger, as i grow older, the eye ball grew and became rounder which could potentially cure my astigmatism!! I tot maybe these few yrs of wearing contact lenses helped my eye ball to be rounder?? muahaha

Anyway, without astigmatism, buying specs and contact lenses are much more cheaper..muahahaha... kudos to my eyes!! & bye bye to astigmatism... hope my eyes will not go flat again and astigmatism dun ever come back...muahahahhaa.... hmmmm any chance my short sightedness will go away by itself...mauhahaha.... i wish lor..hehehe

Plan & Change~~~

Plan & Changes...

Planning helps us get things done, but along the way, unforseen circumstances could change our plan... things changes all the time no matter you like it anot... all u cld do is to adapt and keep it under control.. u lose some and gain some thru each change.. depends on how u look at it...

I planned to visit uncle dar dar in UK during is summer break in aug... have been so looking forward to it.. we cld spent out 3rd yr aniversary there.. something different from our past yrs of celebration... planning started from wich airline tickets shld i get, would it be fr online, when to set off, how many days to go, how much to change, how much to save, how many days of leaves to take, wat to pack, etc etc... i even started counting down!! In order to go on this trip, I have to give up some things, i had to give up the first tournament together with my vb seniors & buddies this Aug 07.. i had to give up driving license cuz it might blow my budget this yr... i might not be able to change job as it doesnt look that gd if u started a new job and 2 motnhs later u want to take a one month leave... changing job will aso mean that i might be facing some cashflow prob...tis is actually the more headache prob..hheheh... so after much thinking and discussion with him.. i will have to forgo the idea of holidaying with him tis summer break... instead, we will head to Taiwan!! his favourite country...the country with lots of gd food and shopping!! not to mention its much more cheaper... hehhe...

Though i would lost the chance to see him sooner and to tour Scotland with him (how often cld you tour UK??), but hey, i still get to go to Taiwan with him when he's back... all the money saved and more to come will be much more worthwhile in Taiwan... I cld still get to play tis yr's VB Open Cup.. more savings this yr.. well as for the driving.. will KIV...:P

The best part?? I can get to travel with him together... its does not realli matter where.. most importantly, he is beside me....=) (i can feel the hair behind my neck stand....muahahahah)

So i lost some but i gain some as well....:) i gain more in fact...

Thursdays~~~

Thursdays have officially become my favourite day of the week!!! Now, I look forward to spending my mornings @ KKH with the kids!!

Today, i spend my morning with 'K', who could only see things tat are at eye level... anything left, right and below eye level will be blurred... yet 'K' is very cheerful, has a loud & clear voice... very active as well.. in fact 'K' has a very strong personality.. very ego and kinda vulgar... maybe due to the lack of proper school and under the influence of the family..

At one pt of time, 'K' wanted to poo poo.. so we went back to the ward so that the nurse could assist... 'K' threw temper cuz prefer to use the toilet like a normal kid then to do it in the dapers... 'K' screamed ch** b*e & motherf**ker to the nurse.. poor nurse.. have to endure the verbal abuse... nevertheless, the nurse cont to do her job, manage to cox 'K' to use the toilet to poo... kudos to all the nurses!! (all the best to Ruifan too...our nurse in training!!!!)

Later i learn from the others that 'K' is actually a very mature and clever kid.. a pity 'K' cant go to sch like the others kids... tink abt how education can help 'K'..

From today's experience, i realise tat kids are each unique in their own ways... with proper nurturing.... they can shape their future... as they grow older day be day.. its best if at least one of the parent is with them to not only watch them grow but to aso help to nuture them into what they want to be!!!

Talking on the PHONE!!!

I've nv been the kind of person who speaks on the phone for long simply because i'll end up having long pauses in btw the conversation... cant see the person's expression always makes me feel somewat cold...muahaha... but ironically, sometimes when i see the real person in front of me, it feels a little awkward ..muahahha... wats even more ridiculous?? my job involves me making tons of phone calls to ppl i've nv met!! well..wat to do.. tats my job...=)

But today, i recieve a call from my beloved uncle dar dar all the way fr UK!! He's having his 2 weeks of Easter Break & his spending it travelling!!!! Damn, so unfair, he's sent there to complete a 8 month course, but according to him, at the moment he is only scheduled for class 3 days a week!! he still gets paid, and the coy pays him allowance for his daily expenses there.. he get more break then when he's in sg.. he gets to travel during his long breaks... SO UNFAIR!!!! muahhaha but okie lar... he has to study... do projects and exams..hehehehe..

Anyway, back to the topic, both of us very rarely speaks on the phone.. we rely more on daily sms when he's in Singapore as a form of communication... since he's overseas now, with the help of internet & technology.. 90% of the time when we 'talk' its on the MSN. I see him occasionally through the webcam.. showing him how much weight i've put on.. how ugly was my hair cut.. & of cuz seeing him fr the other side of the globe, somehow give me a sense of security and warmth... & of cuz thru our blogs, i can be kept updating of how is he!! there's always so much to tell him..but typing it on MSN its always different compared telling it to him in person... heehe... so when today he called, i was so happy.. i've got so much things on my mind, hearing his voice is so smoothing.. just the right thing i need at the moment... we talked abt his trip so far.. wat he encounter... he didnt slp well for the past 2 days.. so hopefully he can find a 'Bed & Breakfast' place soon to get a gd hot shower and a gd nite rest... Till i hear & see you again uncle dar dar... take care and have lots of fun!!! muaacks muaacks...

Well.. with the technology advancing.. will human to human commnication be replaced?? As more and more ppl are relying on Internet, PDAs, SMSs heavily to get through their daily routine... will we somehow lose the human touch?? One way or another, it will affect us.. but the gd news is, we can still keep it under control.. right????
