we are ready to pop!!!

went for our 2nd OB appointment with Dr Khoo yesterday and got a shock of our lives!!!

As he was doing the examination on me, he commented that Ashton is already in engaging position which is normal and good... AND that i was 3cm dilated and can go up to the delivery ward to pop!!!! i know the look on my face at that moment was priceless and i could not react in time... Dar was also shocked that we could deliver yesterday. But we told Dr Khoo our concern and that we wish to have a natural birth as possible so we decided to delay our delivery.

Dr Khoo was explaining that its better and would be an easier delivery if the baby is smaller, Ashton is abut 2.7kg so its a good weight and size to pop. Partly also because he will be away during the week that i'm suppose to pop, but there is another doc on standby. He also said that mostly likely these few days i'll be popping anyway due to the dilation. So we tentatively set Ashton's D-day as 8th June 2011.... =))) hopefuly by then Ashton will grow a little bit more =)) hahah at least we know that he will not be contesting for biggest baby among some of our frens...hehehehe

Its so near yet and fast and unbelievable... hahah mummy already say that i'll be popping at least 1 week earlier and Dr Khoo suggested delivery yesterday which is 17days=2weeks earlier...hahaha

since D-day is reaching, got to start washing all the basic baby clothes... pack the delivery suitcase.

we are also moving our things bit by bit by this week to our new nest in preparation..

ahhhh... Ashton, be good k... next week we will hold you in our arms =))))
ahhh... he is kicking and acknowledging okay =)))

movie date!!!

I requested for a movie cum dinner date with Dar before the delivery of Ashton as we know after he popped, we wont have much alone time for each other hehehe... so yesterday, we went watch Kung Fu Panda 2... glad we chose this show over Pirates of the Caribbean (not that i dun like Johnny Depp anymore, just wanted something light and fun), the show is hilarious and i did not stop luffing... story plot is great!! one of the better cartoons and we approve of Ashton watching it in future....

heheheh anyway we have another date coming up which is after my confinement, which is suppose to keep me sane and something to get through the 1 mth of confinement without showering!!!!!!... planning for a simple home-cooked meal and some movie time in our cozy nest =)))

Getting ready.....

our shipment of TV, sound system, baby car seat, stroller and a box of books and shoes arrived from US yesterday. Currently all stacked at mummy's place cuz we do not have space in our current room, its still full of our unpacked luggage....

Carpentry work has been completed and installed in the various rooms... super love the end products. Timber decking by tmrw, shopping at Ikea for the misc items on sunday,  Painting will be completed by Monday. cleaning of the flat on wed, shifting of items on thurs, curtains by fri, various furniture delivery on fri as well, then we are good for the auspicious date to move in on the 10th June.

cant wait!!!!!!!

Ashton is doing very well. Suppose to be less active cuz he's growing faster in the last few weeks and might not have enough space for him to bounce around, but he is doing the exact opposite. he is kicking alot more and he can really kick any time of the day!!!! super active i would say... heeheh ...

ahhhaaa about 21 more days to go...... >.<

final 4 weeks of waiting...

we are in our last 4 weeks of waiting for Ashton to pop out. EDD is 17th June 2011, but i hope he will be early by a week if possible...ahhaah cuz alot of 1st borns are usually earlier then 40 weeks, but recently we notice that recently quite a no of baby girls reach the full 40weeks term and even went into 41st week, needing induction for the baby to pop and they are huge... i'm not sure if i ca hold my excitement for more than 40 weeks...hehehehe

Our next doc appt is 31st May, should be able to find out if Ashton gain alot of weight or not..hehhe since we are back for almost a month already, my tummy also getting bigger by the day. lucky still dun have stretch marks, but i'm sure these last few weeks they will be popping out anytime... i'm still able to walk, eat and do simple housework normally.  just that need to rest my feet from all the walking after a few hours... bending down will take a little more effort cuz cannot just bend, need to squat down slowly if not stand up too fast will be dizzy...

we should be able to start moving things over to our new place by next week since painting is almost done, carpentry should be able to assemble by this week, timber decking for balcony and bay windows this sat, fixing of the lights by this thurs, curtain by 1st week of june, and also confirm all the delivery of the various furniture. also need to buy all the misc items for move in...

oh yeah, Tony and Coco + Coco's sister were in Singapore during the weekend and we brought them around SG. We practically eat the whole day and walk around SG. these few days my stomach have so much food that i tink i can stop eating for the next few days just to let it rest abit...muhahaah

ahhhhh there still so many frens i wanna meet up before my delivery but seems like so little time cuz need to prepare to move and other things.... hmmm i must still make the effort to arrange else it will be during/after confinement already....

ahhh... cant wait to hold Ashton in my arms =)))

everything is on track... shui lar...

we were still waiting for one of the contractor, Ah Heng, (he was recommended and Dar like him alot cuz he is very experience, very patient and inspected our flat very carefully on the first visit), to email us the quote for painting and also electrical works for close to a week. Dar was ready to go to another person. But lucky his secretary finally emailed us the quotation this morning and Ah Heng was able to commence work tmr!!!! so happy!!! everything is going very smoothly. Ah Seng, our carpentry guy also commencing works. If no touchwood, we should be able to get everything ready by month end.

which means its all up to Ashton when he decides to pop out.. i hope he only decides to meet us after we got everything moved over. I have been talking to him, asking him to stay in for a little while more till we got everything settle =))

plus today since 630pm after dinner, he had been kicking non-stop for 2hours.. keep doing the kallang-wave from right to left and back to right again..... must be getting squeezy in there thats why he's stretching alot..

ahhh... counting down...

35 weeks and 3 days....

We are back for about 2 weeks, got over jet-lag and slowly getting use to the super hot and himid weather.

Dar have been very busy with our nest, chasing the developers on the rectification so that we could start getting our contractor to start on the painting. I'm also officially banned from going up to our nest cuz of all the bangings, knockings has began. Only can do my part and going around with Dar to select furniture, lightings, appliances, baby stuff and other smaller items, very tiring and time consuming, but very worthwhile as we know each piece goes into our home which we are going to create lots of memories together.

Plus, we are going into our 36 weeks and everything seems to be going on track. I really feel like a walking balloon. Each sip of water i drink makes my tummy expands. By the end of every day, i gain at least 2-3kg of water...muahahhaa by the next morning, this 2-3kg will magically'evaporate' from me...muahahah

with all the daily long walkings/window shopping, my feet also getting swollen by the end of the day, but always feel so much better after a cold shower and with Dar massaging my feet, i always feel better. The daily walkings hopefully are enough to replace my lack of pre-natal yoga due to the lack of space at home.

Ashton is also getting very active and his kicks are getting stronger each day. Now my only wish is for him to not pop out too early. Best if he could decide to come out when we complete all the works and have everything move to our home before he comes =)))

The coming 4 weeks will be full of excitement, anticipation and happiness =))

i'm 27....

10th May 2011 marks my 27th bday.... a special day for me as i'm back home with my family and frens on sunny island and the fact that i'm pregnant with Ashton brings even more meaning this yr... =))

We are still in talks with several contractors on the pricing and hopefully we can confirm by this week and start renovating next week. We have already confirm our orders for lights, fridge and washing machine. Now only left our bed, Ashton's crib, sofa and some other items....

and of cuz we are counting down to the day Ashton come...so exciting... =))

busy busy busy....

its been about 4 days since we are home. still abit of jet-lag... slping as early as 8pm and waking up at 4am... Dar has been going down to our nest almost everyday to get the defects rectified as soon as possible so that we could get our renovation started asap.

we have contacted the various contractors, painters, plumbers, customized curtain makers and carpenters and also plan the meeting with them on mon and tue to confirm who should we go with for the various jobs. Hopefully we could make a decision fast and get on with the renovation. Wed and thurs will be going around the island looking for appliances and furniture...

it will be the most ideal situation if we could move in to our home by end of the month, in time for my confinement in june =))

we also went to KKH for a hospital tour, saw the delivery suites and wards and also went thru the various packages available. we also sign up for the public cord banking with KKH.

ahhh also satisfy my papaya cravings...hehehe but the weather is so hot that i wish i could stay in the showers all day long.. swelling of my feet has gone down alot... and my BP has been more stable and in the normal range.... hope to get it stay that way till Ashton is out =)))

ahhhh... another long day tmrw... yawn... slping time...

our first ob appt with Dr Khoo

before we came back to SG, dar already made an appointment with KK for an OB. So yesterday we went and met up with Dr Khoo.

After the 30hrs of flight, both my feet got so swollen that i couldnt walk for very long and that also put my BP at a all time high of 166/99. According to Dr Khoo, i'll have to be admitted for bed rest, but due to the fact that we just touched down, we will give it a few days to let my BP go back to normal before i start on any medication.

Good news is that Ashton is doing very well, he is 2113g, which means if he decides to want to meet us early, he is of healthy weight and we do not need to worry about him. water level and placenta position is also very good so my pregnancy is progressing very well. only concern Dr Khoo have is my BP so i just need to rest more, elevate my legs and get the BP down. Next appt will be end of the month, then we are ready to meet Ashton =)) cant wait... =))

we are home...for good

after counting down our last few days in Ann Arbor, and after enduring 30 hours of flight... we have finally reach home!!!

Betsy, Ruifan and Andrew came pick us up at the airport, and i gave them the ultimate surprise!!! i presented my Ashton (belly bump)to them. They were very happy for me and 3 of us shared tears of joy... the look on their faces are priceless and not telling them makes it so worthwhile....they question why i didnt tell them, so i said i wanted to give them a surprise...hahaha it was also hard for me to hard for me to keep it from them cuz i also wanted them to share my joy =))

we saw our families and ate home cooked food.... i managed to satisfy my craving for mummy's curry chicken and ngoh hiang and also eat fresh and sweet papaya... perhaps its the weather getting to me i feel hot and sticky all the time...

anyway we are home for good now and there is alot of things waiting for us =))

Dar already began hunting down the developer to rectify the defects... i'm getting ready all the contacts for the lightings, painter, curtains, wood deckings, carpenter so that once our fengshui consultant give us the green light, we will start our simple renovation... we hope to be able to move in by end of May so that i could have my confinement done at home and Ashton would be able to get use to the new place too =))

hahahaha gonna do a massive post of all the past baby posts that i have saved over the past 8 months... muhahaahhaa

crying

(28th april 2011)

had a dream and cried again... Dar had to wake me up to stop me crying... must had dream about babies related...hahhaah silly me, must be the pregnancy hormones...

lucky this does not happen often... else i'll be so tired...muahahaaa

@ 32 4/7 weeks

(26th april 2011)

went for our last OB visit earlier with Katie before we fly off this sat. Ashton is very healthy, heartbeats in the 140s, his head is already down at the cervix, just that his measurement is about 2cm short, which is still in the healthy range. As for mummy, doing very well on the BP and weight gain is healthy. So far gain about 18lbs (about 8kg). Recommended weight gain is about 25-30lbs... final 8 weeks is where Ashton gains the most in preparation to come into our world.

tmrw got to go get all the OB documents from the released departments. Also to pick up Dar's OP notes.

our final 3 days is filled with activities... =))

up at 4 am... again

(23rd april 2011)

i think this is my 3rd or 4th time waking up at about 4am-ish, with Ashton kicking or rather bouncing around =))

so tired in the day time that i told myself that i shouldnt take a nap, just cont to do my things and i could hit the sack early....

i went to bed about 11pm-ish but still ended up waking up at 4am-ish... Dar say my body is getting ready for the late night feedings....

oh well sorta true... since we decided to commit to breastfeeding, i'll stick till it as long as i can... hahaha official title will be milkbar for the next 6 months at least i hope...

Dar's 2 months unpaid leave is also approved. So we hope to be able to complete all the house paint, furniture shopping, baby shopping, house packing and shifting before i go deliver, so that my confinement i can do it at our new place... =))

exactly 7 more days till we board the plane... =)))

Shopping Spree!!!

(17th april 2011)

muahahahah went for our planned shopping spree on Sat at the outlet... it was so fun!!! we shopped from 1130am-7pm, a total of 7.5hrs with a lunch break of 45mins.... it was so much fun shopping for Ashton =))

Dar and i initially did not want to buy too many clothes for Ashton as we can still buy them in SG and our frens and families will be buying too... but because of the VIP sales discounts and there is no minimum amount needed spend to qualify for any discount, the buys are very worth it. But of cuz we did not buy too many...

We bought tops and bottoms from Carters, OshKosh, Old Navy, Gap and Ralph Lauren. Dar say Ashton is a very lucky kid. I agree. But its because we happen to be in the US and all these brands are local and prices are really affordable compare to buying them in SG. Of cuz we are not spoiling him before he is born. just buying him some nice clothes is for some occasion like his 1st month celebration, CNY, attending weddings etc...

Although Dar say that he did not want to spend too much on clothes for him and also want to limit the pieces and the pricing per piece. I feel very heart-warming and the love he have for Ashton, when i see him from afar going through the rows of baby clothes, selecting each and every piece for his son... it was a priceless moment for me =))

i also feel very loved when Dar wait outside the fitting room for me while i try on nursing bras, maternity jeans and other clothes,  never stop asking me if i need other sizes and going to the racks to get more fitting sizes for me....  i'm a blessed woman...

now is down to the clearing off remaining household items, cleaning of the house, packing and going to the gym everyday (i hope) for the remaining 13 days till we board the plane home to SG....

cant slp again... Ashton @ 31weeks

(16th April 2011)

aiyo... cant slp again... not sure is it cuz of the thought going shopping for Ashton or the last snack that i ate, baked snapped peas ..hahaha and again Ashton has been kicking and having hiccups...

and Ashton is 31 weeks!!!! so fast right, but suddenly time seemed to have slowed down... think i'm too anxious and cant wait for him to come out and meet him and hold him in my arms... =))

body also going thru alot of changes... boobies getting ready for milk making hence getting sore... belly button getting pushed out quite abit... tummy of cuz getting bigger.. but Dar say that its still relatively small, one mother told me tat if u are carrying a boy, usually ur tummy will be small until the end then grow bigger.......in  the remaining weeks to come, Ashton will be gaining half a pound a week, which is quite a fair bit... i look forward to the weight gain as he will be healthy =))

the birds are chirping and i cant fall back to slp again... =))

Changes to my body...

(14th April 2011)

its amazingly scary how much your body changes during pregnancy.... i understand now how other mothers feel during pregnancy: beautiful, glowing, emotional, grateful, happy.... =))

its the only time that ur body changes so much and u dont complain because you know you are creating a beautiful life inside you...

i'm loving every curve on my body... and my hair is so thick compared to before pregnancy...

2nd last OB appt

(13th April 2011)

we went for our 2nd last OB appt. everything went well... weight gain of 1.2pounds, glucose level, protein level all normal. Vit D is still low, but managed to bring it up so its not the lowest lowest....

we told the OB that the baby seemed to dropped a little, she say its okay. Since weight gain and all other vitals are healthy, dun have to worry.

we also went for our 3rd child birth class. Saw the video for C-sect, and i hate it.. the whole time i was squirming away... i DO NOT WANT TO HAVE A C-SECT... unless its an emergency.  We were also encouraged to have a Birth Plan, which i have been thinking alot about.

So as below is the our birth plan:

1. Drug FREE Natural Delivery
2. Daddy to catch Ashton (if possible) & cut the cord after 30mins (to allow all blood to be pump to baby, if possible)
3. First skin-to-skin contact with Ashton once he is out for at least 30mins
4. Only breastfeeding is allowed and to slp with mummy
5. No bottles or pacifiers to be given to Ashton
6. Able to cont to move about and around, shower during active labor.
7. Able to change position during pushing if necessary
8. Mummy & Daddy to be in decision making and kept informed at all times
9. Be flexible and open to alternatives when necessary

Counting down to Sat for our massive shopping spree... need to get more clothes for Ashton and i also need to start buying maternity clothes for myself already...my regular clothes are getting tighter =))

Tummy Dropping???

(9th April 2011)

Dar commented that my tummy looked a little lower compared to last week. I agree somehow as i feel that i breathe easier.., However, tummy dropping could also be one of the preliminary signs of labor, which usually  occurs 2-4weeks earlier...

Other signs includes: weight stabilization (no weight gain for the last 2 weeks), burst of energy (not sure cuz energy level still the same), increased vaginal discharge, diarrhea (not symptoms) , Braxton Hicks contractions (1st time moms usually dun feel this much)...

hmmm... if Ashton were to really pop out early, then we will have to extend our stay as he will be premature and needs to stay for observation... i do not mind him popping out earlier,  my main concern is that currently some of his internal vital organs are not fully developed yet. i would want that to be fully developed so that he will be healthy and more immune.  So it would be good if he could at least pop out after 32weeks...

oh well, if its meant to be, at least we are prepared.. one way or another =))

oh yeah, today we spent like close to 1.5 hrs at Baby 'R' US buying Ashton's milk bottles, my breast pumps and also lots of cute onesies for Ashton.... so many cute designs, so tempted to buy  everything from newborn sizes to 24months lar...... hahah but lucky Dar is the logical one, reminding me that we do not need too many as ppl will be buying clothes as gifts and his sister is already collecting a wardrobe for Ashton =))

most of the items bought with great discounts and makes it even more tempting to buy more...heheh going to the outlet next weekend for more shopping!!!!!!! final spree before we head home =))

@ 30 weeks

(8th April 2011)

Dear Ashton:

we are at 30 weeks and another about 10 weeks till u are in our arms...

Daddy and mummy also completed our 2nd childbirth class and another 2 more to go... we are also reading on lots of childbirth information. watching relevant videos to help us prepare caring for you =))

we are also starting to buy clothes, toys and alot of other things...hehehee cant wait to see you in all the clothes we bought for you....
Daddy dun want to buy alot cuz he does not want to spoil you, i agree, but i'm sure we are able to come up with a compromise somewhere =))

You are very playful and naughty ar.... whenever daddy wants to feel u kick, u always play hide and seek ar... daddy will be playing with you alot more when u come out, he cant wait =))

oh yeah, mummy's boobies are getting ready to be ur milkbar when you come out =)) and i can see my belly button poppping out!!! hahah making just a tiny bit more space for you to stretch hehehehehehee...

we cant wait to hold you in our arms =)) and i cant wait to take our 1st family photo in our arms =))

Glucose Tolerance Test Results

(5th April 2011)

*updated @ 917pm*

My OB called again in the afternoon as we walked out from Dar's therapy session, to inform us that my test results are out and everything is normal, which means i do not have gestational diabetes!! Yeah yeah!!!!

That also means that i can go back to indulge in my chocolates and desserts, but of cuz after this scare, i'll watch out even more and also try to cut down and dun over binge =))

*updated @ 10am*
My OB called this morning to let us know about the results for my test. But she claimed that the results have not been uploaded by the lab so i'll have to wait till end of the day....

As she called Dar instead, i thought i had to go thru the whole process again cuz they are unable to determined...hahaha cant imagine htaving to get poked again for 9 times for 4 tube of blood... my arms are still sore and blueblack lar...hahaha

oh well, just got to hang on for her call then....

till then, Ashton is kicking damn hard now....hahahaa

3hr Glucose Tolerance Test

(4th April 2011)

Began my diet of only complex carbohydrates since Fri and fasting since last evening after dinner in preparation for the 3hr Glucose Tolerance Test.

Woke up at 730am to get ready to walk to the clinic.

When i reach there, the first confusion was that the nurse was kinda unsure which color glucose should i take after the 1st blood draw so after consulting another colleague, they confirm its the white one which is 100mg of glucose.

Then when that is settled, we proceed to get the blood drawn, when i sat down she began to explain to me that once the blood is drawn, i have to finish the glucose in 5mins and then 1hr later she will draw the 2nd tube of blood.

Then the 2nd confusion came when she told me that i cannot leave the clinic at all, in case i faint along the way or at home when no one was around as the glucose might be too much for empty stomach. But i was told otherwise by another nurse previously. Never mind,  So i requested for 5mins to walk back home to get a book to keep me occupied the next 3hrs and a pear to keep me alive after everything.

After drinking the glucose, i was feeling so much sugar-rush that i felt so nauseous and can feel my heart racing...hahaha and Ashton could feel it too.. he was kicking non-stop during the 3hr...hahaah

After 1hr of waiting and the completion of the 2nd blood draw, the 3rd confusion came, the nurse asked me to drink plenty of water which i was told that i cannot take anything during the 3hr wait. So when i asked for water, the clinic does not have any bottled water or water cooler,  plus i cannot head back home which is less then 5mins away to get my own water, i had to resort to drinking the tap water from the bathroom. it taste horrible. The reason the nurse told me that i have to drink lots of water is to keep myself hydrated so that the blood flow will be smooth.

During the whole waiting process, Dar msg me during class to make sure i'm doing okay so i told him about the water situation, he's so sweet and brought me a huge bottle of water during his 30-min break before his next class, muaacks muaccks him to death =))

My 3rd and 4th blood draw was painful and torturous. My veins, already very small and temperamental at times refuse to cooperate and the 2 nurses had a hard time find the vein and keep it there long enough to draw the blood, which resulted in me getting poked 5 extra times. So i total i had a total of 9 pokes to draw 4 tubes of blood.... For the last poke, they actually wanted to try one of the veins on the side of my wrist, which they claim that its fat and almost 100% will have blood flow every time... i was skeptical as i cannot see any veins at all, so i asked if they could try to draw it from the back of my hand as i see more fatty veins there. They agreed and poke a hole. The vein was a little uncooperative at first, but after about 20s, the blood flowed and i completed the last tube with maximum effort...muahahhaa else who knows how many more pokes i got to endure.

My left and right arms looks like i have been abusing myself with needles.. lots of fresh poke holes and they are slowly turning blue black....

well, at least i told myself, the pain is worth it as it will let us have a piece of mind whether i have gestational diabetes and from there how can we treat it so that it will affect Ashton as little as possible. If the results are negative, it will even ease our minds more.

But i suspect that i do have the gestational diabetes, cuz my weight have been increasing alot within a week, about 2pounds per week,  which is a symptom of gestational diabetes... oh well, i'll just have to wait out the next 24hrs till the test results comes back.

Dar is kinda pissed about the confusion of the water and instructions of staying in the clinic and the diet portion.  I'm just confuse about the unclear instructions and also the diet portion which was so different on what was printed on the guide given by the nurse and explained by my OB. Lucky my OB did call on Thursday to confirm on the diet portion.

hahahah i'm glad the screening is over. the joys and pains of pregnancy =))))

@ 29 weeks

(2nd April 2011)

Ashton is 29weeks = 11 more weeks till i hold my darling in my arms, kiss and hug him tight tight.

this little fella is doing very well, kicking alot more and i enjoy seeing him move and my tummy goes pop pop ...

hahaha and since we have not told our frens (expect family) about our pregnancy, it will be priceless to see the surprise faces of our frens...muahahah cant wait for that....

11 more weeks Ashton =))

Glucose Screening

(31st Mar 2011)

Had my 1st Glucose Screening during my 28-week OB visit for gestational diabetes, and the result came back as high level of sugar. So, i have to go for another round of screening, which involves a 3-hr process of blood drawing and a 3-day carbohydrate-rich diet. so i'll start my diet for the weekend, then go in for the 3hr blood drawing 8am on Monday.

Hope that the spike in the sugar level during the 1st round of testing was due to the fact that we had buffet on sunday and i had lots of ice-cream and desserts and the sugar stayed in my system ...muahahah oh well... even if it mean that i'm diagnosed with gestational diabetes, its temporary and will go away after Ashton is delievered and all i have to do during the last leg of my pregnancy is to follow a stricter diet, which will do me and Ashton only good. My only concern now is the health of Ashton... will do anything for him to be a healthy bouncing baby =))

OB Visit at 28weeks + 1st child birth class

(30th Mar 2011)

we went for our scheduled OB appt and everything is going well, i've gained 4lbs in the course of 2 weeks, which the mid-wife would prefer at a slower rate, but other than that, baby's doing well.

and we also went for our 1st childbirth class together. Made a boo-boo and we went to the wrong location and ended up late for the class. first class was pretty simple. Explained some terminology that we would be hearing more from the OB in weeks to come, light stretching, relaxation, breathing exercises, pain management etc.

Dar also commented that my tummy dun look as big as the other ang mos mummy. maybe cuz different stages of the pregnancy and i was much bigger size to start with... looking forward to our next week's class.. =))

Baby Clothes and Breastfeeding Cover-up

(28th Mar 2011)

We bought Ashton's his first sets of clothes!!! so exciting... it was after much consideration that we decided to go with our buy, we had a $20 gift card fr Target and with that, we bought about 8 tops for him. Perfect for the 1st three months as the tops have side buttons instead of going thru his soft head and neck.

and i'm so excited and soooooo looking forward to our final shopping spree to the outlet mall on the 16th April....muahahah more baby clothes, accessories and other sprees...

Also wanted to get a Breastfeeding Cover-up, but online all selling at least USD35, which i tink is ridiculous as its just a piece of cloth... lucky with the internet, i managed to find a step-by-step guide to make ur own cover-up and i tink it will cost me less than SDG$10 and i get to select my own fabric and design from Spotlight or even the wet market......muahhahahaa

ahhh.. counting down to to the last weeks... =))

28 weeks

(26th Mar 2011)

We are officially entering our final trimester... that means that in about 12 weeks, i'll be able to hold Ashton in my arms and kiss him and play him and cuddle him =))) cant wait...

it seems that the first 2 trimesters have flown by before i knew it, yet the coming 12 weeks seemed to be dragging and taking its time.... hahaha he is kicking so much more now... every other min it seems tat he's kicking... when i'm eating, watching tv, doing housework and even slping!!! hahah and its fun to knock on my belly and he reacts to it. haha i would like to  think that he's playing with me... its fun =))

theres a list of things to buy and do till we leave... baby clothes, breast pump, bottles and etc...
not forgetting packing, shipping and also selling off some of the items we have at home...

27 weeks

(20th Mar 2011)

at 27 weeks, i'm at the last week of my 2nd trimester and entering into my last trimester whereby i'll get to hold Ashton very soon, say about 13 more weeks!!!

my tummy is getting rounder, i need to pee more often, and of cuz getting heavier.... but i'm glad that i'm still very mobile and can carry on daily activities such as housework, driving, baby-sitting, cooking, gym, yoga and so on...

and i still walk normally. cuz some pregnant ladies have difficulties walking cuz of the weight of the baby, which in result in backaches and bad postures... and most importantly, i dun have constipation... and my appetite is great!!!

also i need to start shopping for more clothes and bras... cant cont to wear my current sizes... its all bursting...hahahah

hmmmm ... my belly is pretty round, which looks more like carrying a girl, rather than pointy which is carrying a boy...hahah perhaps got chance is carry girl...hahaha ultrascan also can be wrong mah.... hhaaaa

13 more weeks to D-day...

26.5 weeks

(15th Mar 2011)

we just went for our OB appt... everything is normal... baby is doing well in terms of heartbeats, growth and size... and so far have gain about 11.5lbs...hahaha which the OB also say its normal and healthy... swelling of the hands and legs is normal... so no need to worry.. but have to take note of my BP... cuz this past week is in the 80s... must take note... if not have to go back to medication... i hope to keep off the med for good... =)))

Dar keep teasing me about my weight gain... say go back SG cannot eat alot of food le... i'm so sad....

so now i have to skip chocolate and sweet stuff le... cannot let loose le...will avoid the ice-cream section altogether... and when have craving.. just drink milk!!! its hard, but for the well-being of Ashton and me, i'll do it.... =)) i must do it!!!!

Sweet tooth

(14th Mar 2011)

no matter how full i am from a meal, there's always room for dessert!!! hahaha i cant live without sweet stuff!!! and my constant craving for sweet stuff intensifies throughout my pregnancy... i constantly crave for ice-cream and anything chocolate!! ergh... i have to control my urges so that i dun overeat...muahahahah...wonder if Ashton will have a sweet tooth like mummy =))

just love the feeling of cold ice-cream melting in my mouth... and the chocolate melting on my tongue.... yummy~~~

if i dont stop myself, i can easily finish 1 tub of ice-cream by myself...muahahhahahah

daddy and son tag-team...

(11th Mar 2011)

Dar is very playful and i think Ashton will be like him.. will be very mischievous and playful... Daddy and son already tag-team to bully me already... Dar will tease me whenever i make sounds when Ashton kicks me suddenly... and i tink he secretly enjoys seeing me squirm when Ashton kicks...

Ashton also like to kick when daddy tease me.... both of them do it at the same time for a few times now... its entertaining to them and very heart-warming to me... =)))

hahhah i foresee they will tag-team alot in future to bully me.... hopefully by then we will have a mei mei for Ashton and that will balance up the ying and yang in the family... cant wait.. =))))))
(1oth Mar 2011)

Ashton have been very active lately and his kicks are getting more and more powerful =))
i can see him kick more and more... his kicks never fails to put a smile on my face =)))) i cant wait to meet him and hold him in my arms... give him lots of hugs and kisses... talk to him, sing to him.....another 14 more weeks or so... =))

one thing i notice is that American OBs dun encourage you to do alot of Ultrascan of the baby, max 2 times and they dun tell you the weight of the baby as the pregnancy progresses...

however, in SG, every time u visit the OB, you will get an ultrascan done and know the weight of the baby.. i wonder why such different practice.. oh well as long as the baby is healthy im happy....

I saw Ashton's kick!!!

(4th Mar 2011)

for the first time i manage to see Ashton's kick on my tummy.. its so magical!!!

cant wait for him to grow even more stronger and he can kick harder and longer... Dar saw it too it was so fun!!!!!!

Babysitting...

(3rd Mar 2011)

its been 4mths plus since i baby-sit Grace. Its good hands-on experience and both Tony and Coco have been trusting to place Grace in my care knowing that i do not have any experience with babies, especially newborns...

alot of emotions in me but i dunno where should i start. I guess if i'm not pregnant with Ashton, it could be easier for me to babysit Grace as no restrictions in terms of mobility and energy level is higher and i'll not get tried and irritated easily.

on the other hand, with Ashton and babysitting Grace at the same time gave me a different kind of training. as my tummy grows bigger and Grace getting heavier and moving alot more when u carry her, it trained my patience, endurance and controlling my temper and of cuz its like training for my 2nd kid with Ashton. its like a preparation course and i dont have to pay a penny, muahhhahah

although i tink that even though its good training for me in particular, part of me feels that its kinda unfair for Ashton. if i have not cont to babysit Grace, perhaps i could do more in preparation for his arrival. meaning i have more time to ourselves to get ready, like do more exercise, my energy level will be all given to Ashton, 100% is given to him instead of splitting 50-50.. but at the same time, with babysitting Grace, it makes me more efficient in time management. so thats good and bad.... having said that, i still might not be 100% ready if i have all the spare time.

that led me to thinking, when should i return to the work force after Ashton is born. Ideally, if financial is not a prob, one parent should stay at home with Ashton so that we could care for him and be there to watch him grow. i would think that its selfish of me to want to work just to get back my freedom and independence and choose to leave my kid to someone else to care for and eventually miss out alot of his childhood.  But the reality is that, both of us will have to work, for our flat and also for Ashton. I'll have to return to the workforce, the question is when??

Once, i return to the workforce, alot of adjusting will take place. alot of questions and decisions have to be asked and made.  i'll not be able to care for Ashton 24/7. Who will care for him while we work? should we hire a live-in nanny? our parents will take care? or put him in childcare??? and also should i work part-time or full-time?? with Ashton and perhaps more kids to come in future, no doubt that i'll be more efficient at work, it could be a breaking deal when i have to choose to work or our kids. of cuz i do not want to come to that....

i do want to return to the workforce asap, i want to be earning my own keep and also contribute to our family, then Dar will not have to be the sole breadwinner, & also to have some more savings for the rainy days... but with a kid, i might not be as free to do the things i want to do, but i'm sure i'll know what to do when the time to decide comes and it will be worth it no matter what i choose.

hahahaah i might be thinking too much at the moment....

1st hand-made gift for Ashton =))

(2nd Mar 2011)

after many many many hours of knitting, I've finally completed a pair of too-large booties, a hat and a blanket of Ashton... hopefully we would be able to use it for some picture taking during the 1st week when he is home...

i could have bought the items instead of knitting as it saves more time and i could get so much nicer designs and brands. But i feel that i should do it as its for my baby. Its meaningful to me to be able to do it for him =))

hahahah compiling shopping list for Ashton too =)) cant wait to go shopping for his clothes...got to control myself... but the clothes are simply too hard to resist....

@ 24 weeks

(26th Feb 2011)

we are now at 26 weeks =))) that means another 16weeks (or less) and we can see and hold Ashton in our arms *super excited* =))))

Ashton is growing beautifully inside me and i could feel him move so much more now... dar can also feel him kick better =)) he is a busy baby doing his thing in me...

how beautiful and delicate human life is...

there are many changes to my body and most of them i'm loving it...hahah pregnancy is the only time that my boobs grew bigger (not complaining about that) and my tummy grows beyond my boobs and it gets rounder and rounder... my foot, joints and face starts to swell and retain alot of water which is normal and i'm fine with it...

i'm glad that i did not suffer extreme vomiting and nauseousness like some of my frens did and they had to hug to the toilet bowl for hours... i'm also glad that my weight is gaining healthily and i'm still active and can exercise, do my daily chores and dun have mood swings and it helps that Dar is being so supportive and keeps making me luff hahahaha

ah pregnancy is beautiful =))))

Week 23

(20th Feb 2011)

Ashton is 23weeks old. OB appt as usual is normal. each consultation is getting shorter and shorter... no neg results for any of the test ran. next ob appt in a months time.

my weight has been increasing healthily and slowly. so far only gain about 1.5pounds per month... guess its because i'm in US, food is not as easily available like in SG. i'm happy that i'll have more room to gain when we head home.

Ashton have been very good as well, he's kicking more often, but whenever ask him to kick for daddy, he still dun...hahahaha

have completed knitting a pair of booties and a hat for Ashton.. hahah abit bit but okay lar... just to take some pictures during his 1st week @ home... attempting to knit a blanket for him...hehehe about 1/4 way done...

we just bought the jogger stroller for Ashton. going to ship it back to SG so that by the time i deliver, it will reach SG for him to use.  Also bought some milk bottles from here. 1 single Philips Avent bottle cost SGD$10 in SG, over here we manged to get it at much cheaper cost.

there are so many cute and most importantly cheap/affordable baby clothings. Each pc i see i want to buy lar... but so far i have not bought anything. waiting to go to the outlet to spree...ahahhaha

doing pre-natal yoga daily is also helping me alot... gives me more energy throughout the day and my legs not so sore when i stretch... and i realized that my feet and thighs and face are retaining much more water, looks swollen...hahaha can feel the sides of my shoes becoming tighter and cant wriggle my toes as much thru the limited space...hahaha at the moment still able to fit in most of my clothes including my skinny/normal jeans and tops... grateful that i do not have to fit into the maternity jeans and have not started using the belly bands yet.

looking forward to month 6 with Ashton and Mr Ong... and also looking forward to our child birth classes startign end of March.

Oh yeah, we managed to secure a consultation appt for Mr Ong's wrist. Its coming tues. Hope that he does not need to go thru surgery. his only concern is that they will have to break his bones thru surgery if the bones are not growing as per their progress... i dont want him to go thru the pain... but we will see how it goes ba.. i'm sure everything will be okay =))
