back to routine...

its always a very good feeling when u start to workout again after a long period of break.
i felt good that i'm starting to go for morning runs and doing simple yoga again...

although the workouts are as short as 30mins only, i felt great just perspiring and breathing hard and getting my heart rate up!!

now my challenge is to try to workout everyday, timing will play a very crucial part as Ashton will have to work with me...=)) Dar is also very supportive. taking care of him during weekends morning while i head out for a short run =)))

oh yeah~~~~

getting ready for Ashton's next feeding =))

updates

Ashton went for his KKH appointment with Dr Chia for routine checkup.
He's 4.09kg (as of 20th July 2011) and 56cm. head circumference is 37cm.
Dr Chia declare that his development is healthy and he does not look jaundice already, so he is officially discharge!!

all the morning sun tanning, drinking water and me avoiding all the c hinese herbs in my food paid off. I'm happy that he is doing well. Now just need to go back to polyclinic to cont his regular immunization shots can liao...

His legs are getting real strong. keep wanting to stand and he really flips and moves alot during his sleep, like a future gymnast....hhahhahaa

ohhhh yeah Ashton is botak now...ahhhaaaa.....Dar bought a new electric beard shaver and helped him shaved. I must say that Dar's pretty good... the shave was very clean.. And Ashton's head shape suit botak... muaaahahh

oh my, how fast time flies and my darling boy is growing up every second =)))

solo outing with Ashton...

Today is my solo trip to the polyclinic with Ashton. He was due for his 2nd dose of Hep B and also to take blood test for his jaundice. I'm freaking happy can, cuz his jaundice level drop to 93, which the doc say is good and do not have to cont to come back for more blood test. But still going to let him sun tann every morning, cuz that's what we have been doing with him every day for the past week and seemed to be working.. =))

our boy also very strong when he took his Hep B shot. only cried when the needle went in... after that he was okay.. =)) and he is at 3.7KG =)) did not gain alot but at least he is gaining wight. the nurse say that its normal as breastfed newborns have not develop a regular eating and slping pattern hence the weight gain is sufficient. and the fact that he is pooping, urinating well is a good sign of development.

Eh going out alone with him is pretty okay. Just only need to always find place to breastfeed him. mil kept suggesting that i should pump out the milk and feed him by the bottle so that not so troublesome and other ppl can help to feed as well. ehhh not that i do not want to pump out, but once i do that i fear that i might lose the bond with him. he confirm will be spoiled by his grandparents when he is older. if i start to feed him by the bottle, i tink the pampering will start even earlier...

Breastmilk

Before Ashton popped, Dar and I already decided tat we want to exclusively breastfeed him for at least 6months. When we decided on that, we were still in US and I thought to myself i hope i'll have alot of breastmilk for him.

But ever since i started breastfeeding, i always worry i do not have enough for him. Always worrying that he is never full. Always worry that he will not be gaining enough weight. It doesn't help that mummy and mil keep re-enforcing the fact that i do not have enough breastmilk each time they see me breastfeed Ashton. They would say that he is not eating enough and we should also use formula so that he will be full. Hearing such comments from them really discouraged me several times and really got to me that i do not have enough to keep Ashton full.
Nevertheless, i still have to bear with what they say. its getting bearable but hearing too many times always bring my mood to super low which i realize would affect the amount of my milk. There were times where i felt like exploding to them. Do they not tink i also want the best for Ashton? we know that breastmilk is the best thats whey i want to do it. U tink its easy to breastfeed?? no lor... if i want the easy way out, i would have use formula instead and everyone can take turns to feed him. But they are after all my elders, i sill have to respect them, so i can only endure the comments. Lucky for me, Dar is very supportive and still encourage me to cont breastfeeding. Ask me not to take the comments to heart.  What would i do without him.

i happen to be one of those mummies who do not have excessive breastmilk that they could stock up their entire freezer. I now only have enough to feed him and do not have excess when to pump out and store. I really hope that i would have a lot more as time goes by. Having excessive breastmilk is on top of my wish list. Can Xmas come early this for me?? i have been a good girl all year round, Santa pls blessed me with excessive breastmilk!!!!!!!!!!

confinement...finally over!!!

08.07.2011 marks the end of my 30-day long confinement.
The end of showering with specific herbal concoction...
The end of eating confinement food...The end of wearing long pants all day long...
The end of not touching water...
The end of feeling sticky all day long and not able to take a quick shower...
The start of  my freedom back to daily long showers and hair washing =))))))
Lots of frens asked me how i was copping during the confinement.

To be honest, i didnt felt like i was on confinement. The fact that Ashton was in the KKH for the 1st 2 weeks, i still leave the house every evening to visit him, so not really confined!! hahah

Plus the fact that he has G6PD and jaundice and i'm breastfeeding him, i have to watch what i eat cuz it goes to the BM then to him. So i avoided most of the chinese herbs and ginger cuz thats what the Doc advise. So not so much of confinement food for the last 2 weeks!!!

even my mum say that i was not doing  good confinement. Not eating enough and kept going out (to the hospital). The old folks kept saying that if i dun take care of my body during the confinement by eating alot of food and tonic, when i'm older i'll have pain in my joints everywhere!!!! But like wat Dar say, we played so much sports during our younger days, so many injuries that we just disregard, we bound to have pains when we get older so does not matter..hahah which i totally agree!!!

And of cuz today is also the day Ashton offically turns 1month old!!!

loving my new job!!!y

We just celebrated Ashton's full month last weekend.... so busy and tiring but we were glad that almost all our relatives have met him... most of our closer friends have met him too.. although i tink half the time he was cranky, crying and feeding on me, the milk bar...
so many relatives and frens came and we didnt really have the chance to talk to everyone..kinda like during our wedding... so many ppl came with their blessing yet there is only 2 of us and too little time to spend with them... but i'm sure they understand =)) and we are also thankful for all the lovely gifts and monies by the various uncles and aunties =)) oh yeah, we were so busy that we did not take many photos....hahah oh well some regrets here and there =))

hahha so far he have been a very good boy... only waking up 2-3 times in the night to feed, which actually gave me more time to catch up on my sleep which equals to my body producing more breastmilk...

he's more restless in the afternoon. Dar say cuz he recognizes and able to differentiate day and night so he's more active in the day time and slp better in the night time... i hope this is true and not because he's crying alot more in the day time cuz not enough o eat and concuss in the night cuz after a long day of crying, he simply have no energy left...hahahh

bathing Ashton is a real challenge... somehow newborns are kinda afraid of water till they are about 2-3 months?? who could have foresee that when they have been in the water bag for close to 10months?? i certainly didnt... each day when i bath him, he cries alot..but we are getting better... at least i know now which position suits will calm him down... =))

i'm loving my new full-time job as a mobile milk-bar and mummy =))
